So that is it. I finished the 100 burpee challenge and let me tell ya, the end sucked. In the last 10 days I did 955 burpees. I missed day 96 so on day 97 I did 184! In all I did 5050 burpees over the course of 100 days. It was tough but I am glad that I did it and pushed myself to complete it. I learned a few lessons too. Let me give you some tips to use if you decide to take on this challenge.
[In my mind this is what I look like when I am working out. Gotta have a goal people!]
Tip #1. Don’t wait until the end of the day to do all your burpees. In the first 30 days or so it’s okay to do but after that it’s tough. There is nothing fun about doing 50 burpees at 10:30 at night because you put it off all day. Get in the habit of doing them early in the day and getting them out of the way.
Tip #2. Once you get above day 25, break down the number of burpees you do each day into smaller sets. Try and do between 10 and 15 per set until you are finished. Rest between 1 and 2 minutes per set.
Tip #3. Start on day 10. That means that you have to make up the first 9 days. So you have to make do 55 burpees plus 10 for that day. But you cut 10 days off of the challenge and believe me, being done 10 days sooner will feel awesome.
Tip #4. Try not to drop down into the push-up with a lot of force. Unless you are really concerned with doing this as fast as possible, do them methodically. Dropping down into the push-up with the full force of your body behind it for 100 days will make your elbows hurt. Save the trauma on your joints and do them slow and steady instead of fast.
I hope that those tips help you succeed in the challenge. Here is the video of me on day 100. Use this to motivate and inspire you to take the challenge.
[Here’s the video of me doing 100 burpees in a row. This is the first time I have ever done 100 in a row without stopping. It is as tough as it looks.]
A few notes about the video: That was the first time I ever did 100 burpees in a row without stopping and catching my breath. On day one I did 100 and it took me about 10:44 so I improved my time over 3 minutes. I didn’t make my goal of doing it in less than 5 minutes but, oh well, burpees aren’t very friendly for tall guys!
So that’s my version of the 100 Burpee Challenge. It was tough but doable. I found out that I can do more burpees in a row than I thought if I but my mind to it. So much of what we accomplish or don’t accomplish is due to our mental attitude. Be positive and most the time you’ll surprise yourself with what you can accomplish. Take care and let me know if you decide to take the challenge!

Hey Dave,
Congratulations! Wow! That is an accomplishment. Did you get a chance to tape it? Just think–you did it. Also thanks for planning the workouts while Kate was gone. Wish I could have participated more. My right side is just a little out of whack. You are an inspiration to me so I’ll just keep going. Hope I get to see the video. Way to go.
Ellen,
Thanks for keeping tabs on me! Take your time and heal up. Nothing worse than a nagging injury.
David
OOPS! Going to watch the video now.
Ellen,
Grab your popcorn it gets a little long! LOL!
David
Wow I did follow your challenge impressive you kept it up and only missed 1 day.
At the 7 minute mark not much petrol in the tank but you finished.
I probably wont do the 100 burpee test whilst at home but I’d probably have a go when I’m travelling (for work I travel a bit) in a hotel room.
It actually has inspired me make sure I set up challenges for myself rather than go thru the motions and to see someone start and finish a gruelling challenge so really Well Done.

Raymond,
It was pretty tough. I am glad that I finished it but I am more glad that it is done! That was a long 100 days but I feel better for sticking it out and finishing. I’m trying to think of my next challenge. Probably something with push-ups, pull-ups or eating habits related.
David
Unbelievable!! Challenges are important and watching this was impressive. That’s the last you’ll hear from me now for a bit.
Ellen,
Glad you liked it. I did kinda run out of gas at the end. But that was the first time I ever did 100 without really stopping and catching my breath so I’ll take it.
David
I’ve been following along. You did not disappoint!! THAT’S AWESOME!
Incredibly impressive. SO glad you shared!!!

Stacey,
Thanks for following along. It was tough to do but I am glad that I finished. Maybe once a month I’ll do 100 Burpees to see what my time is. I still would love to do it in under 5 minutes. Someday….
David
You. Are. Crazy.
But in a good way.
Excellent job, man. That’s really inspiring stuff!

Drew,
You know that you could totally knock out 100 burpees if you had to! I think that I may do that once a month just to see if I can keep doing it.
David
Great Job honey! You stuck to it and completed your goal! I proud of you!
Love, Teresa
Thanks Dear! I love you too.
Love,
David
WHOO HOO! Nice Job Dave! That was very impressive! Way to stick with it.
Mary,
Thanks. That was definitely challenging. Just sticking with was the hardest part. Now I lay off burpees for a good month and not feel bad about it!
David
Very proud of you, famous Dave! I think T & I should try a half-marathon challenge of 50 burpees.
Let’s do it, Helen. Dave has inspired us….maybe we’ll even decide to do more than 50.
Congrats, dude! That is one hell of an accomplishment!

Hey! That was only 99, you need to start over!
Just kidding. Holy cow that was insane. Congratulations.
Even if it was only 99 that was plenty! Maybe someday before the end of the year I’ll try 100 again and see how I do.
